  • Family tree research
The familymagazine De Dobbel-Beker does research, for over 50 years, into family trees Dobbelaer-Dobbeleer and associated family names.
We identified already thousands of persons in more than 75 Family trees.
DNA testing should help us in our search for our common ancestor.

The archives of the De Dobbel-Beker currently has more than 60,000 names, most of them are linked to one of our family trees.
All this is the result of years of searching in all kinds of archives by plenty of enthusiastic researchers.
Many of these family trees we found go until in the 17th century, sometimes even earlier.
We note that from about 1650 it is extremely difficult to find information.
There are suspicions how some of our more than 75 family trees Dobbelaer-Dobbeleer are related to each other.

In 2010 the Dobbel-Beker decided to join in on the DNA project of the Flemish society (VVF).
Provided that a simple saliva test could examine the individual DNA profile and phylogenetic relationships between people.
During our anniversary celebration in 2011 we announced this DNA data.

  • DNA research
  • DNA = exist in each of our cells and contains hereditary information.
  • This information is continuously copied like as we do when we copy a CD.
  • In the DNA is also the X- and Y-chromosomal.
  • Y is passed from father to son.
  • All male descendants of one particular person have ‘the same Y’.
  • Sometimes when copying DNA there where made copy errors = this means that we belong to a certain haplogroup:

  • Family members of these family trees participated in the DNA project:
Each participant got a little cheek saliva declined that was analyzed on DNA at the University of Leuven (Europe/Belgium).
